The birds are having a party. A dozen robins have chosen our yard. Even during a snow squall, they peck at the lawn and soar around the house. They land on a wire and puff themselves up against the wind – feathery balls with small beaks poking out. The marsh opened up and a male hooded merganser floated in open water, showing off his stark black and white plumage in the afternoon sun.
