Drama of the island ground

180The shore and forest landscape on this island is different than the forest ground in my home valley up north. My parents owned land in the Fort Kent hills, and its forest floor, once a potato field, rippled up the ridge. Here on Mount Desert Island, the ground swells up with exposed rock, natural platforms for elevating the curious wanderer.

About Jenna Beaulieu

Jenna is a writer and fine art photographer who recently moved from the Saint John Valley region to the quiet side of Mount Desert Island. She’s a fan of excellent music, homemade gravy, and colored pencils (also, short books and long books, good pens, flannel, and when the June bugs don’t really come out much that year).
